Office Hours :

Section & Functions

        1. Administration Section:

●      To submit for decision as per the need for regular monitoring work by the department,

●      To work related to staff administration. Update / keep personal files of employees,

●      To make arrangements for guard and security in the office,

●      To conduct the functions related to registration invoice, inquiry counter and record branch in a systematic manner,

●      To keep the records of the functions done by that branch up to date, to include the details prepared from other branches and to prepare the monthly progress report of the department and send it to the Ministry of Home Affairs within a week after the end of the month,

●      To coordinate with all the branches and do the work of washing the paper as per the rules,

●      To transfer visas, issuing travel permits, issuing discounted entry visas and certifying arrival and departure, subject to fines,

●      To operate and supervise the functions of the branch and to correspond as per the decision,

●      To supervise the performance of his subordinates,

●      To submit to take action as per the prevailing law on foreigners staying in tourist-visa for more than 150 days,

●      To do other work coming in the department as per the instructions given by the Director General from time to time,

●      To do the function they have been doing in the absence of the immigration officers working in the tourist visa, agency, non-tourist visa, business visa unit, case branch,

●      To coordinate with the director while performing the function of the branch,

●      To manage the records of leave, work, transfer, attendance etc. of the employees,

●      To send a reply in coordination with the concerned branch of the email received in the department,

●      To facilitate the publications to be published by the department.

        2. Business Visa Section - Single Point Service Centre:

●      In case of recommendation for business visa and within the expiry of the previous visa, the recommendation will be approved and issued to the person doing business, business representative and his / her dependents by the decision of the business visa director,

●      To extend the validity of the business visa to the business persons, business representatives and their dependents who are on business visa and have been recommended for renewal within the period,

●      To Issue necessary business documents, business representatives and their dependents who have been recommended for business visas after expiration of business or other visas, submit the required documents to the director and issue the visa as decided,

●      In case of applying for business visa overstay in tourist visa, the visa will be issued as per the decision submitted to the Director General,

●      To perform fuctions related to the transfer of business visa,

●      All visa related work will be done through online visa application,

●      To work according to the instructions given from time to time,

●      All work related to business visa will be provided from a single point service center and the information will be given to the immigration department.

   3. Non-Tourist Section:

●      Investigate applications, recommendations and other necessary documents for study visa in study, research, degree / non degree program and issue and extend visa,

●      To investigate the application, recommendation and other necessary documents of non-tourist (Press) visa and to issue and extend the visa. Investigate and submit the case of delay and overstay and do as per the decision,

●      Investigate non-tourist (non-Tibetan origin) visa applications, recommendations and other necessary documents and issue and extend visas. Investigate and submit in case of delay and over stay and do as per decision,

●      Investigate applications, recommendations and other necessary documents for non-tourist (non-Tibetan) visa and issue and extend the visa,

●      Scrutinize the application, recommendation and other required documents received for non-tourist visa and extend the visa,

●      To issue visas and extend the period for the persons working in the foreign missions and their subordinate bodies based in Nepal after scrutinizing the recommendations, applications and other documents from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the department under it,

●      To carry out visa transfer related work related to non-tourist visa,

●      To keep the records of the visa holders up to date and to prepare the monthly progress report within five days of the end of the month and submit it to the administration branch,

●      To operate and supervise the work of the branch and to correspond as per the need,

●      To update the report on the conduct of foreigners obtaining visas issued by the branch and to submit for action if any adverse,

●      To submit to the director with opinion on the decision to be taken,

●      To do other work coming in the department as per the instructions given by the Director General from time to time.

  4. Tourist Section:

●      Extension of tourist visa for foreigners who have obtained an entry visa without exceeding the stay period of 150 days in a visa year,

●      If foreigners seeking other visas apply for a tourist visa after the expiration of their visa, the process will be completed and submitted to the Director for decision,

●      In the process of extending the validity of the visa, to check whether the passport, visa and stay of foreigners are regular,

●      To keep the records of the visa holders up to date and to prepare a monthly progress report within five days of the end of the month and submit it to the administration branch,

●      To operate and supervise the work of the branch and to correspond as per the need,

●      To supervise the performance of his subordinates and to approve their leave,

●      If the foreigner who has gone for mountaineering has applied for extension of the remaining period of the tourist visa (if his / her stay in Nepal exceeds 150 days, the period of the remaining period will be deducted),

●      To coordinate with the director while performing the work of the branch,

●      To do other work in the department from time to time as per the instructions given by the Director General.

        5. IT Section:

●      To ensure smooth operation of existing information systems and websites in the Immigration Department,

●      To develop / make necessary information systems for the Immigration Department,

●      Maintenance, maintenance and operation of information technology related equipment in the Immigration Department,

●      To complete all the technical process required for the procurement of information technology related equipment,

●      To complete the technical work of all the bids called for online,

●      To provide necessary assistance and coordination related to information technology in the Immigration Department and its subordinate offices,

●      To provide necessary technical training to the manpower working in the department and its subordinate offices,

●      To provide technical representation on behalf of the department while coordinating with various agencies,

●      To perform other technical duties assigned by the Director General of the Immigration Department.

        6. Agency Section:

●      To complete the necessary process to issue the permit in the designated area for trekking, submit it to the director and issue it as per the decision,

●      As per the recommendation received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as per the written request from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the diplomatic visa holder will be submitted for free walking permission in the specified area,

●      To submit a free trekking permit to the tourists going for mountaineering in the restricted area on the recommendation of the Ministry of Tourism,

●      To keep up to date with the details of the trekking agencies whether they have been renewed or not. Also to keep the records of the work done by their branch up to date,

●      To operate and supervise the work of the branch and to correspond as per the need,

●      To supervise the performance of his subordinates and to approve their leave,

●      To prepare the progress report of the work done by his branch within 5th of every English month and send it to the administration branch,

●      To do other work coming in the department as per the instructions given by the Director General from time to time.

        7. Legal Section:

●      While investigating the immigration related offenses, to take the statements of the accused by giving information in accordance with the prevailing law, to conduct the necessary investigation and investigation and to file the case as per the law,

●      If suspicious passports, visas, etc. are found, to be submitted for legal action,

●      To keep the detainees in the detention rooms in this department as per the law, to facilitate, protect, control and manage them,

●      To keep the records of the work done by the branch up to date and to prepare the monthly progress report within five days of the end of the month and submit it to the administration branch,

●      To operate and supervise the work of the branch and to correspond as per the need,

●      To supervise the performance of his subordinates.

        8. Account Section:

●      To formulate general budget and coordinate with the concerned branch to look after the plans and programs in the case of development budget,

●      To submit the annual program of the department and subordinate bodies for LMBIS amendment, remittance as requested by the concerned office,

●      If the head of the office or the head of the branch asks for an opinion regarding the financial transaction, to submit an opinion,

●      To make arrangements to demand evacuation in accordance with the financial procedures and regulations by carrying out the work and responsibilities related to economic transactions,

●      To keep proper account of the expenditure of the disbursed amount, to prepare the division and financial details of the expenditure,

●      To prepare the report and submit the revenue amount of the department and subordinate office,

●      To prepare and submit the report keeping the record of the deposit amount,

●      To procure goods, equipment, consultancy and construction related works in coordination with the procurement unit,

●      To evaluate the bids of goods, equipment, consultancy and construction related works,

●      To submit an opinion if the head of the office / branch head seeks opinion regarding the goods to be auctioned as mentioned in the commodity report,

●      To keep the record of the arrears from the audit and to get the evidence of the arrears submitted. Submitting regular issues to make it regular,

●      In case of non-receipt of payment in case of non-receipt of payment due to non-receipt of customary or non-receipt of opinion without obtaining your opinion, in case of non-receipt of payment in accordance with the prevailing law. To do as ordered,
