Position Director General

Mr Ramesh Kumar KC assumed the responsibility of Director General (DG) of Department of Immigration on 25th March 2020. Before this, he was the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kaski district.
Mr KC was born in 1971 at Rukum West district. He joined Nepal Administration Service in June 1998 and has served as an officer in many Government Offices including Ministry of Tourism, Prime Minister's Office, Public Service Commission, and Ministry of General Administration of Nepal.
Mr KC has more than eight years of experience as a Class II officer in Local Governance. He has served more than three years (2009-2011) under the then Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development as Local Development Officer (LDO) in Jumla and Surkhet districts. He has been engaged for five years in Local Governance, Decentralization, Federal Affairs, Infrastructure Development, Project Management and Good Governance activities in the then Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development.
After the devastating earthquake disaster of 2015 in Nepal, Mr. KC was deployed in newly established National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) for nearly one year and has performed various activities like post disaster management, database management, grievance handling, grant management and coordination functions. After he was reassigned in Ministry of Finance (2016-17), he continued his duties engaging in public treasury control, Public debt management, and government auditing and accounting activities.
Mr KC has looked after issues regarding internal peace, security, coordination and governance under the Ministry of Home Affairs from 2017 June till now. He has served as Chief District Office (CDO) in Banke, Morang and Kaski districts. Conduction of National Level Elections 2017, Management of Terai inundation / flood disaster 2017 and 2018, Development Coordination, Governance and Service delivery improvements, federal affairs and provincial setup management are few tasks he has been engaged while he was assuming the responsibilities as a CDO.
Mr KC holds Master's degree in Political Science (MA Pol. Sc.) and Public Administration (MPA) and also MPhil. in Public Policy Administration from Tribhuvan University (T.U.), Kathmandu. He has published hundreds of articles in the field of Management, Development and Administration. He has also visited most of the districts in Nepal and some foreign countries including Australia, China, Finland, Sri lanka, Vietnam etc.
